Man, this game was an important part of me and my bros. childhood. It's really one of the reasons we became fascinated with video games in general. We would get grounded every once in a while for being ******** and our folks would take what they thought were all our video games, but we always stashed the NES and this cart and would play the heck out of it when they weren't around, lol. We weren't bad though, just a little rebellious like most kids at that age (in this case, pre-teens).

We got this game over ten years ago in a trade for Dynowarz for the NES. Titled "52 Games" or "Supervision 52", this is one of the first print runs of this pirate cart ever made, with the company known as "Supervision" (SuperVision, etc.) engraving a dragon-type thing on the back of the cart. It has since been reproduced in a variety of ways and has become fairly popular among collectors and curious folks. Many more modern versions of "52" are designed to look more like modern pirate carts with fancy pictures of various games (some which aren't always on the actual cart). The irony that a pirate cart would get me to buy legitimate games and that I would adopt the persona of Vyse, a Blue Rogue...

Anyway, doing research on it over the years, it's also pretty rare from my understanding to find a copy of this pirate where all 52 games work and I don't recall this pirate ever being successfully dumped on the net (could be wrong). This is a rare opportunity for people to see the game and what's on it, played on original hardware. Most carts nowadays modeled after this pirate contain many of the same games.

A little note for those curious: This cart has a lot of missing company information and some missing title screens for pretty obvious reasons (one being because this is an old version of 52 Games). All the games work on our copy. It is not to be confused with "Action 52", which is what I get often when I bring this up randomly in conversations. This cart was made to fit in a U.S. NES, but most (if not all) games are Japanese. This video features the first eight games on here. They are:

01:Islander = Adventure Island
02: Grading = Gradius
03: P-D Fighting = Hokuto no Ken (The Japan original. Fist of the North Star in the U.S. is HnK2)
04: Star Soldier = same
05: Goonies = The Goonies (Another Japan original, strangely never released in the U.S.)
06: Legendry = The Legend of Kage
07: Tetris = Tetris (Tengen Version)
08: Bros. II = Super Mario Bros.

Neat games... but this pirate only gets stranger from here on...
