Surveying Pristine Planets in Elsbeth - Let's Play Starsector #5 - Hammer-Heron - Viewer's Choice
9In today's edition of Starsector exploration is king. We have our sights set on some planets and some sweet contracts, and hopefully along the way we can discover some good treasures. I tend to focus on Yellow Stars and Orange Stars when looking for potential colonies, however warning beacons can also sometimes give a clue for systems that are ripe for settlement. Of course, you may have to clear out some of the inhabitants, but what's a summary eviction without a little self help in the distant future.
So, colonization. The question, as always, is whether this is what we should take for our colony. Elsbeth doesn't check all of the boxes, but it checks a whole lot of them. Still, there is plenty of time to explore and decide.
Starsector is a game where you get together a squad of spaceships and try to carve your own place out in the stars. Will you turn a profit from trade? Or how about shoot down some pirates to defend a fringe colony? Bounty hunting sound good, or how about becoming a pirate yourself and turning the tables? The galaxy is open to you, just be wary of any AI you might bump into along the way. Although this game is still in Alpha and in deep development, this is one of the greatest games I have ever played and I am very excited it won the viewer's choice selection. The mechanics are deep. The lore is interesting. And once you get your feet wet there are all sorts of mods out there to play with.
Speaking of mods, this play through is a slightly modded version, adding more face choices and some extra dialogue boxes during combat. No mods have been included that fundamentally change how the game is played mechanically (despite some REALLY NICE quality of life mods being out there).
