The follow-up to the surprise hit Syphon Filter is more ambitious from a storytelling and gameplay standpoint. On the former front, it succeeds, with some caveats. On the latter, it also succeeds, with some caveats. It's an uneven game that feels padded and stretched thin to try and match the original's length. A more streamlined story with longer levels might have worked better. What is on display works very well with the first disc of the game being a marvelous little symphony of interlocking action. The rest of the game is more disjointed and disparate with the Lian missions, alas, coming across as forced with inane plot developments. The ending closes the deal, happily, with some terrific material. The increased emphasis on stealth, while organic to the story, can lead to unwanted frustration and irritation. This is a more ambitious game than the original, but it falls short in matching its overall quality, so it's a bit mixed overall.
