There was a reason I specifically mentioned I was done with Xillia 1 Gaius. The king is back!
Factor Julius is quite simple, being the first boss and all, although he has some annoying traits in that he's able to counter from a single hit and likes to sidestep/backstep a lot. And as every other human boss, Julius can tech after being launched or after falling a certain distance. To avoid it, Tiger Blade has to be delayed to ensure he won't recover before hitting the ground. Keep in mind that the timing for it varies depending on the enemy's weight.
A weakness reset is performed halfway through the combo with a normal attack into Pale Ghost. For whatever reason, Julius rarely techs this part despite the height but there's a chance the combo breaks.
Gaius sports his true Level 1 stats, as in, I froze those values at the title screen so his stats are low as possible. Even then, what would be his default weapon, the Shiranami, is too strong for this point of the game at 447 Atk, so he has to equip the Catana (and other cat-related attachments =P) to not decimate Julius too quickly. But he does anyway because Gaius is a powerhouse.
Just like in the Xillia 1 run, Gaius' skills are shown during the ending segment but only for this video. These equipped skills won't change for the remainder of the run, stat boosts aside.
Now, for more details about the run itself, it will cover both the Main Story and Character Episodes for a total of 38 videos.
However, I'll be skipping some """fun""" fights for the time being: Rideaux II, Chimeriad, Alvin & Agria, Rideaux & Ivar, and Celsius & Aquadragon. All of the group fights, basically, because Gaius doesn't have the tools to deal with multiple enemies at once, although some of them are more doable than others from what I little I've tested. Not a priority right now, in any case.
Victor is also a major roadblock when it comes to 1v1s due to his mechanics but I'm stubborn enough to do it. It's possible to defeat him with the restrictions I've imposed myself... even if it's going to be hell.
I've also messed around with the saturation and levels while editing so the game has, y'know, actual colors instead of everything being so washed-out and dim, especially inside a Fractured Dimension. I like how it looks!
Either way, uploads will be scheduled weekly, every Thursday. 2/3 of the videos have already been recorded after a month of starting the run, my best pace ever, so there will be constant uploads until well past July. Hope you enjoy what's to come and thanks for watching!
And as usual, part of the credit goes to Samu for sharing his knowledge and keeping me company during the labbing sessions. Run wouldn't be possible without him!
