I'm a big fan of Yu-Gi-Oh, but I'm also frustrated by the way the game is discussed online. There are two main groups of people who make it difficult to have a productive conversation about the game. The first group is the "Yugi Doomers," who are extremely disenfranchised and believe that Yu-Gi-Oh is dying. The second group is the "shut up and dribble" crowd, who believe that if you have any criticism of Yu-Gi-Oh, you should just quit playing. I believe that both of these groups are wrong. It's important to be able to have a nuanced conversation about the game. We can criticize Yu-Gi-Oh without being negative or dismissive. We can also acknowledge the good things about the game without being overly optimistic.
