Information in the text files submitted alongside demos may contain errors, missing information, links that are now dead, or contact info that is no longer valid. In particular many .txt files refer to doomedsda.us, a demo archive that no longer exists. Generally everything is left as-is with the goal to accurately represent the material as it appears in the archive, however in the case of this upload the full text file is too large for the video description and has been edited during the upload process to fit. =======================================
THIS IS A TOOLS-ASSISTED DEMO
Thought it would be fun to see how much
the original Doom Done Turbo run could
be improved.
Level comments:
=========================================================================================================
Episode 1: Most route ideas from Andrey Budko's e1uv-345, original DDT.
E1M1: This was interestengly enough the most frustrating level for me to do. Really had to perfect everything in the run and have a bit of luck to get the 6 seconds. Also needed this short wallrun on the wall leading up to the first door that I got by accident.
E1M2: Couldn't figure out anything else I could do to get this time down significantly, so I stuck with 15 seconds.
E1M3: It might be possible to get this a second more down, although I can't see how I would do that; the first part of the level seemed pretty useless to change because otherwise, on the way back, the monsters wouldn't open the doors early enough. There isn't much I could do in the second half either.
E1M4: No real comments here; easy level, couldn't think of any way to improve it.
E1M5: I changed the route from DDT so I don't grab the rocket (as in entryway's e1uv-345), and I also used the secret elevator in the room with the nukage and switch because the wait was shorter. In all, this saved 5 seconds and I wasn't able to improve it any further.
E1M6: Took some more ideas out of e1uv-345 and added a few wallruns and such. Also had some nice help from this shotgun guy in killing the shotgun guy guarding the switch.
E1M7: Large level, hard to improve at this speed. I tried improving individual parts of the level, but then something would go wrong later on. I was able to get through the monster congestion before the exit room on one shotgun shot, though, and saved another second.
E1M8: Standard route; initially got around 22.2x seconds, improved on the jump to the exit teleporter and the rocket suicide.
