Tencent Charity Foundation's “99 Giving Day” campaign is held in September, during which Tencent matches any donations made by the public via its online platform. Since its establishment in 2015, Tencent's 99 Giving Day has become a renowned charity event with the largest number of donors addressing the widest range of charities in China.
When 99 Giving Day began six years ago, it raised US$19 million. That grew to US$462 million in 2020, astonishing growth in such a short period of time. More than 57.8 million donors, thousands of institutions and 10,000 enterprises have participated in the campaign, which broke the record for giving among China’s internet charity industry.
