For today's Roguelike Spotlight #11 PART 2 we dive into the beautiful yet quite dangerous world of Terra Ranoma; an open-world, tabletop RPG, tactical roguelike in Early Access. There's tons of random generation from maps, locations, enemy spawns and more. Oh and so much delicious loot to be found. Ahhh yes... so much good loot!

There's multiple difficulty options to tweak to your liking ranging from Easy, Normal, Hard or Infinite Lives, Losing gold/xp/fame on death to straight up Permadeath. There's also a great deal of character classes to try out and experiment with as well ranging from your typical monster smashing warrior types to your squishy but with powerful spell caster types. There is no main storyline per say but the world around you changes as you play, evolving around your actions. Some cities may prosper, others may fall. It becomes a true story about you and your heroic or less heroic accomplishments.

You start off with a couple basic abilities but after that, it's left up to you how you want to build your character once you invest some gold at the Guild for 'talent stones' you can purchase. As you level up, you can divvy out points into your main stats (strength, dexterity, intelligence) and a vast array of skills that after certain milestones become more powerful, grant new passive affects or take on new meaning. You could in theory start as a Mage and end up with a 2H Warrior, the freedom to choose how you want your build to develop is however you see fit with little to no limitations.

Speaking of development, the solo programmer Deniz K has been very steady with new updates every few weeks ever since it released into EA back in 2020 and has been his passion project as far back as the early 2010's. Fast forward, it's a 2 person project with Deniz K taking care of the game aspect and Oz handling everything else. It's a true labor of love and the people behind it are some really kind, gentle, stand-up folks deserving of your attention for their game. The game is really dang good too so if you are a fan of Roguelikes, good tabletop RPGs or turn-based tactical games you'll most likely appreciate what they have here for you.

I am so happy we are able to showcase Terra Randoma on our channel and am looking forward to seeing how this game shapes up to be by the time it goes into 1.0. As it stands, its very enjoyable, very much playable and definitely worthwhile to have in your collection if you are a fan of these type of games.
