Transcendence - IGG #1 - Deep dive into the game of Transcendence
50Invaders! This is our first EXCLUSIVE YouTube video I've made for the channel and I am very excited to present it to you here in our new series exclusive YouTube series "Invading Great Games"! I love you guys and just want to thank you for all your support in creating this content. I really hope you like it and while this is cliché to say, truly, this is only the beginning of what I have planned and will continue working hard to elevate us to new exciting heights each and every week.
I apologize for sounding a bit nasally too. When I recorded this, I just started feeling better. I was sick all of the week before and nearly lost my voice. I am doing much better now but at the time of recording (Monday) I was still not fully recovered and had some residual effects like raspy voice, headache, mental fog and things like that which complicated the recording but I was able to power through and got most of what I wanted to talk about into the video.
In our first episode of IGG, we dive into the stark yet beautiful world of Transcendence. Transcendence is an open world RPG space ship combat with roguelike elements mixed in. It's essentially the offspring of Nethack & Escape Velocity if they had a baby and being that those are some of my favorite games makes me a very happy camper!
It's heavy inspiration of Nethack is on full display as much of the game is randomly generated aside from the main quests and key locations in true roguelike fashion. There's numerous ways to build your ship and is essentially without limit on how you want to conquer space. You can be a pirate, a smuggler, a bounty hunter, a miner, a humble trader or whatever else you can imagine. There's a vast amount of ships to play, purchase and customize including that of your enemies.
The game looks so good and sounds great too! The music & sound effects are wonderful and I love all the little details from the blinking lights on space ports to the ship thrusters. I also find it incredibly gratifying to upgrade my ship changing not just my playstyle with new weaponry but how I can interact with the world with the numerous devices you can slap on. Unfortunately in this video, I really didn't get a chance to showcase such devices that can change how your UI looks or that can conceal your vessel or any of the other neat things you can slap on to really change things up.
Again, if you wouldn't mind not only giving me a thumbs up but your feedback on what you would rather have (gameplay plus edits =1 video per week or just gameplay = 2-3 videos per week) I would greatly appreciate it!
