TESTING which is the BEST SHIELD RUNE in DOOM: The Dark Ages
310I tested the 4 Shield Runes in DOOM The Dark Ages to see which is best.
Auto Turret is the Worst Shield Rune by far, not only do you have to aim at one target at a time, it does little damage on its own whereas all the rest manage to both hit multiple targets and do more damage.
Holy Swarm is in third place especially in comparison to the last two, but it at least does good damage to multiple targets instead of trash damage to one target.
Between Ground Fissure and Heaven Splitter it is close and honestly may come down to preference and/or situations, do note that these two in particular seem to ignore enemy fence projectiles so they are already way ahead of Auto Turret and Holy Swarm.
Heaven Splitter is very good for safely getting in close, or giving yourself downtime, it shocks many demons in an instant in a great range giving you an opportunity to attack or reposition safely whilst they're stunned, and it does great damage too.
Ground Fissure is very powerful alone in terms of damage and how many things get killed by one Ground Fissure, and it seems to give A LOT of Armor back when fully upgraded, especially when hitting multiple enemies (so it may be better when there’s more enemies to hit), mind you I have resource values set to low and it still gives a bunch.
