TF2 Runs Great On Linux Using Fglrx | AMD Catalyst Drivers
Lot's of folks in the Linux community claim that AMD cards and drivers suck and simply don't function well enough to play games on Linux. I
recently saw a conversation where folks were saying that Team Fortress 2 was unplayable with the Fglrx/Catalyst driver. As you can see from this video, this clearly untrue.
I'm using an AMD A10 7850k with the Integrated R7 graphics. This means that the graphics chip doesn't even have dedicated memory; it is sharing the DDR3 memory used by the APU. Despite this, my fps averaged about 75 or so.
I hate to call people out but the folks that say they are unable to get stable frame rates using discrete AMD Radeon cards and the Fglrx/Catalyst driver are either telling stories to create FUD about AMD or there is something critically wrong with their system.
If you are one of the folks that have severe problems with the Catalyst driver, PLEASE respond to this video with a video of your own system struggling to play TF2. Until I see a video of this, I simply won't believe it.
