Intro and explanation 0:19
Rode VideoMicro 4:59
The Rode VideoMicro is a cardioid electret condenser mic which is typically used for mounting on top of a camera, although it can be used in other positions. The VideoMicro is commonly referred to as a video mic, although in traditional studio and sound recording terms it would be called a pencil microphone.

Movo VXR10 9:07
The Movo VXR10 is pretty much the same type of mic as the Rode VideoMicro, as in it's a cardioid electret condenser video mic. The Boya BY-MM1 is the exact same microphone just re-badged. If you like the VXR10 then I'd recommend which ever one is cheaper between it an the Boya BY-MM1.

Comica CVM-VM10 12:14
Again and in keeping with the Rode VideoMicro, the Comica CVM-VM10 is a camera on-body mountable video type mic, that's also a cardioid electret condenser. The VM10 has now been upgraded to the Comica CVM-VM10II, which I will be reviewing soon.

Sennheiser K6 power module with the ME64 cardioid capsule 16:31
The Sennheiser ME64 is more expensive than the other microphones in this test and I've included it for comparison. Although the ME64 is an expensive microphone it is quite cheap when compared to other professional cardioid condenser pencil microphones. Although the ME64 is an electret condencer, just like all the other microphones in this test, it uses a battery and can also be powered via 48V phantom power and is also an XLR microphone.

Purple Panda lavalier 20:29
The Purple Panda is an omni-directional cardioid electret lavalier microphone. This is possibly one of the cheapest name branded lavaliers available.

Micbooster.com Clippy EM184 cardioid lavalier 22:39
The Clippy EM184 by Micbooster.com is a cardioid electret condenser lavalier. This sets it apart from most lavaliers that you're likely to come across as most are omni. While a cardioid lavalier doesn't quite have the fuller richer sound of an omni one, they are very useful for helping to pick up the wearers voice in noisier environments.

MicBooster.com Clippy EM172 Omni-directional lavalier 24:18
The Clippy EM172 is my favourite lavalier of all time. It's an omni-directional lavalier microphone that has a great frequency response, it's very sensitive, has very low self noise and a very healthy output level. Yes, there are better lavaliers but nowhere near the Clippy EM184's price. This is one microphone that I would totally recommend.
