What's the best vlogging microphone - Rode NT1A VS Cascade V57
In this video I'm asking the question, what's the best vlogging microphone the Rode NT1A or the Cascade V57?
Both mics are undoubtedly suited to vlogging, podcasting or any general dialogue recording. They are both large diaphragm cardioid studio condenser microphones but does this mean that there's no difference between them, only a small difference or are they completely different beasts all together?
The Rode NT1A is also well know as a very quiet and sensitive microphone, is this obvious against the Cascade V57? Please let me know in the comments section what you think.
The video is mostly me talking in a typical 'to camera' vlogging distance and I do a small example of a very close mic position. The close mic position may help to hear the tonal difference a bit more, if there is any significant difference and is also a good example for an off camera dialogue or voice over position.
In the test I use the Behringer UMC202HD USB audio interface to supply 48V phantom power to both mics and to preamp them, although I'm doing this in a way that the Behringer is acting as a standalone phantom power preamp and not connected to a computer. I'll be doing a short video soon showing this particular use of the Behringer UMC202HD.
