Zhiyun Z1 Evolution VS Smooth Q gimbal stabiliser test with a GoPro Hero 4 Black
10This video is a simple test comparing the Zhiyun Z1 Evolution gimbal with the Zhiyun Smooth Q gimbal, using the GoPro 4 Black action camera.
Both these gimbals are now quite old and both are basically no longer made. And although the GoPro Hero 4 Black hasn't been made for a few years now, the combination of it and these gimbals is very good.
I'd go as far as to say that these combinations are still easily capable of producing excellent 4K stabilised video. Also, and having owned the GoPro 5 and 6, I'd say that these combinations can also look and sound better.
Given that you can pick up a GoPro Hero 4 Black for around £100/$100 second hand and either of these gimbals for around £60/$60 second hand. It represents amazing value for money for an excellent cheap vlogging system.
Also, the sound quality of the internal mic on the GoPro Hero 4 Black, and the 3 for that matter, especially for voice/dialogue/vlogging, is better than the GoPro 5, 6 and 7.
Given the picture and audio quality in this test and the excellent stabilisation. It'd be very fair to say that modern systems like the GoPro Hero 7 Black and the DJI Osmo Pocket, only really have the advantage of great inbuilt stabilisation.
The video was shot protune and wasn't even graded. The audio was limited and had slight EQ processing in post and I used a Rycote Micro Windjammer on the GoPro's mic.
Anyway, does this video look and sound like it was recorded with equipment that for the best part is getting on for being four years old and is it really that much different from it's modern counterparts?
