The mobile/social player landscape has changed. The “Casual” player has been replaced by the “Hardcore.” Players are fanatical about the games they play, whether it’s a fruity Match 3 or a fantasy MOBA. Through concrete examples, this talk seeks to debunk myths surrounding today’s casual player and explain why we should view our players as hardcore, regardless of the game, and why this realization matters for live ops, retention and monetization.
