Earth Defense Force (EDF) is almost literally "Now this is an Avengers level threat: The Game"
It has 4 classes, like over 800+ guns to manually and carefully craft a unique playstyle for yourself.
Not only that, but it also has a skill ceiling that feels satisfying, rewarding, and fun to learn.
The 4 classes consist of Ranger, Wing Diver, Air Raider, and Fencer.
All which feel different to one another in a non bs way.
No class is stronger overall than the other, but some are suited better for some scenarios than others.
Ranger is your standard infantry soldier, but goes crazy with it.
You can toss a hand grenade that has the explosion radius of a heccin mini nuke, or shoot an oversized missile from anl shoulder-held missile launcher.
Sure you have a 120 mag M4 and a 1 sec reload stinger rocket launcher, but where's the fun in that?
Wing Diver, my favorite. Sorta flimsy, but can fly and her weapons have an insane damage output.
Her flight has a fuel meter which is shared with her weapon reload, but that's just to not make her insanely more preferable compared to others.
Air Raider: a pyromaniac's dream. You can call airstrikes to decimate a good amount of enemies,
call in tanks and helicopters for you or your team, a 2 seated bike for a romantic ride through the imminent alien invasion,
or have a Pacific Rim Jaeger and duke it out with enemies.
Fencer. This is the only game that allows you to play like Reinhardt in his cinematic.
Dashing around, destroying enemies, hammers, swords that shoot beams, shields, cannons, mechanical spears, you name it.
All of these weapons that you can arrange in a dual wield fashion, with 2 loadouts in game.
So you could go crazy and dual wield hammers, and with one button press you could have cannons and a shield.
It has a vast array of voice lines and emotes that are automatically unlocked from the start,
which would include laying down seductively and singing an entire theme song with like 20 verses,
all the while fighting agaisnt dirty giant bugs, transformer-ish robots, and Godzilla sized monsters.
Monster Hunter wishes it was this good.
