The Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind | Organized Guild

I went in search of two individuals. One by the name Llarar Bereloth, a Telvanni that Ranis wants to be recruited into the Mages Guild. If this could not be done, my orders were to kill them. Manwe owes her guild dues and I was to collect them. Both were convinced thanks to some illusion trick and my favorable personality. I must admit, the whole 'recruit or kill' aspect of this task had left me pondering as to why anyone in a high position would want to run the risk of tarnishing their reputation.
Ranis' next two tasks were equally as odd. One was to stop an Argonian from teaching Restoration outside of the parameters of the guild. It's a bit difficult to manage that, many people have taught schools or magic outside of the guild... The other task was to escort a High Elf. Ranis made it clear that she did not care for his safety, all she wanted were his notes. This is where I began to question Ranis' leadership. Something did not feel right, this is someone who actively doesn't care if some of our peers or would-be peers die.
I was then sent to Mar Gaan to stop a Necromancer only to find out that Tashpi was approached by the Mages guild before but had turned down the offer to join. Tashpi suggested that I lie and let her go. I returned to Ranis who seemed skeptical of my story but let it slide. Perhaps I was tricked but I did not see anything relating to Necromancy in Tashpi's home. Nor did the villagers make mention of anything relating to the practice of Necromancy.
Ranis' final task was to have me check every guild hall across Vvardenfell to seek a Telvanni spy. I had felt weary of her orders at this point and used the Guild Guide to get around. When I arrived in Wolverine Hall I made my rounds asking for any spies. Skink-In-Tree suggested I check in Vivec due to many major decisions being made there. Once more I asked around only to notice that Tiram had been awfully defensive about him not being a spy.
He even went as far as to check his credentials with Trebonius the Arch-Mage himself. So I did, and to my surprise when I read over these credentials I noticed that Ocato's name was misspelled. Bingo. I ran back to Ranis as she had instructed me to not engage with the spy and assured me that she would deal with the spy herself. For my reward, I was given an enchanted Daedric dagger! I am bewildered by the generosity of Ranis, but I had to wonder what her intentions are...
