I searched long and hard for the man with the mace and when I found him, he was hostile. I could not reason with him and so I had to ensure his demise. It's a shame really, he had the support of a family and a partner too yet he chose the life of a bandit. Some people don't understand the idea of working hard and then dying comfortably in your bed. Why would they persist in such folly?
Regardless I had finished my business in this fort and I left to return to the now widow, Maeva. She took back the mace and gave me her dowery as payment. I felt off taking that money, but I suppose that's part of the business. I felt that there was less to do so I went to the Imperial City market to sell off everything I got and then moved on from there. I noticed that the inhabitants are getting stronger as the days go on. Soon the Imperial Legion will have a hard time fighting off Daedra as long as those gates remain open.
While I dislike the area, I went to Bruma for training. The hand-to-hand combat master resides in the area. I asked him for training and he tested me by having me hit him for a bit. He wanted to measure my experience and I obliged. He soon accepted me and I was able to train with him. While hand-to-hand was a good thing to learn, blocking is equally important so I headed toward the next master in Bravil.
