The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion | Simple Rewards for Simple Tasks

I stood waiting for the light to hit the shrine that was before me. I had heard of some places that had a glowing light hit them. I never understood what that was about until I overheard what some mages were saying. Apparently putting in a Grand Soul gem in the altar and then casting Soul Trap on the Altar can turn the soul gem into a black version. What this does I'm not quite sure but I've been wanting to make one since then.
My reasoning for this is that I read in some book that teaches you on how to summon Daedric princes that one of them requires a black soul gem so I thought it would be better to be prepared in case that encounter ever happens. I thought at that moment that I should return to the Roxey Inn. Not for training, mind you but that innkeeper mentioned something about needing help. As soon as arrived I figured I would make some small talk and learned that a small town named Aleswell.
Apparently, the town suddenly vanished so I decided to make that a priority. Getting to Aleswell was simple as it wasn't too far but it wasn't abandoned. All the residents had turned invisible. The innkeeper at that place mentioned a wizard that had been experimenting on them for some time. My heart dropped. I couldn't hear anything else. All I knew was that this was a wizard who seemingly committed random acts of cruelty and was in Cyrodiil. I went to the nearby fort but I was attacked by invisible mountain lions.
My armor is rendered useless, and my health is low but I was determined to see this through, if it was truly him, I could have a chance at vengeance. Sadly it was not him, the wizard did provide a spell that would return everyone back to normal. I was upset by the discovery that it wasn't him so I wandered around until I came upon another inn. There was a Khajiit upset that her potatoes were stolen. These were no ordinary potatoes she grew but instead jumbo potatoes that were used for her famous potato bread.
I helped her get the potatoes back and she gave me a loaf of potato bread. Sure it wasn't a conventional reward but I was a bit peckish from having run around so much. My spirits were slightly lifted after that but I was still no closer to my goal than when I started. I wandered around some more until I found yet another inn. Inside that inn was a High Elf who had lost his notes after being forced to leave by the creatures that turned up. He said he would pay me if I got his notes back...
