Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location is the upcoming fifth installment of the Five Nights at Freddy's series created by Scott Cawthon. It is the first installment of the series to be given a subtitle along with a release date. Prior to the announcement of the game, Cawthon had claimed that the previous entry in the franchise, Five Nights at Freddy's 4, was the final game in the series as a whole, but Sister Location was later confirmed to be a canonical spin-off, making Five Nights at Freddy's 4 the last game in the main series.
It is expected to be released on October 7, 2016. The game was originally expected to be released in the third quarter of 2016 but no release date was set, until it was announced that the game would be released in the fourth quarter of 2016.
In April 2016, Cawthon released a teaser image of the game on his website, entitled Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location, featuring a clown-like animatronic, revealed to be named "Circus Baby". Several teaser images followed suit, revealing different characters and hints at their origins.
The trailer for the game was released on Cawthon's official YouTube page featuring new animatronics and a new location. The release date was later confirmed to be October 7, 2016.
In August, a teaser image was posted on Cawthon's website with the words "Cancelled. Due to Leaks." This was initially taken to indicate that the game itself had been cancelled, due to one of the game's animatronics' voices being leaked, namely Ballora's. However, it was quickly revealed to be a part of the story line, as a fictional news article was found when the image was brightened, discussing how the in-game location had been closed due to "gas" leaks.
The game will include a new map, detailing various areas in a location known as Circus Baby's Pizza World, including rooms such as the Ballora Gallery, the Circus Gallery, and the Funtime Auditorium. Players will control a movable character, a technician working the night shift at Circus Baby's Pizza World, and will have to fight against animatronics that attempt to attack them.
