The History of Doctor Who Viewing Figures: Season 22 (1985)
316The journey continues through the history of DOCTOR WHO VIEWING FIGURES! We've reached SEASON 22, the first run of adventures for Colin Baker, as the Sixth Doctor!
In these six adventures, the newly-regenerated Doctor, together with his companion Peri (Nicola Bryant) travel the universe and encounter a wave of old enemies and new threads alike. Whether its the hideous torture enjoyed by Sil on the planet Varos, the twisted schemes of the Borad on Karfel, or even the machinations of the renegade Rani, there's no shortages of threats for the TARDIS team to fight off. Some familiar foes return to, the Cybermen, the Master, the Sontarans and the Daleks all make an appearance and continue their aims to cause terror and destruction wherever they tread. We even have a surprise appearance from the Second Doctor & Jamie along the way!
But throughout what is truly an action-packed season, how did the viewing figures hold up? With a brand new Doctor, and now 45 minute episodes back airing on Saturday nights, did these changes benefit team TARDIS? Or did all of these changes, Doctor included, send viewers scurrying away behind thier sofas, never to return? Join me, as we explore Season 22, and find out!
