As Agatha sleeps unconscious, the party splits up to investigate the town of Whitebridge without any opposition. Ren and Bell investigate the supposed hot springs, only to find that the liquid inside was a murky, black, blood-like liquid that, once touched, started to burn and decay the flesh. Bell learned this the hard way after sticking his foot in, though he managed to step away with only burns, but still had his life. Ren took a sample for safe keeping, but it was determined that it was essentially one gigantic Witch's cauldron under the guise of a hot spring using powerful illusion magic.

Kayli had chosen to check in on Agatha's home, finding that in her belongings was a diary and a spellbook belonging to someone else. The diary reveals that the town had been destroyed and the citizens killed by Dragon's Howl and his minions over the hunt for a mysterious man in a black coat that came from a village further north. Turns out the man was a necromancer, yet he still went out of his way to help protect the town, and Agatha, when it was attacked. Unfortunately, only Agatha survived.

Revealing that she was still a child when this happened, she took what she can from the ruined village, including the Necromancer's book, and left to find something or some way to bring her family and village back.

Turned away or shunned at every turn, Agatha eventually learned of the Hag, where she went and made a deal that cost her 10 years of her life, as well as her childhood. Now, she was a teenager in an adult's body, but she had the power and the means to create the false town of a rebuilt Whitebridge, reviving false memories of her family and friends via the undead, and even adding more using unsuspecting victimsm in the hopes of regaining what she lost as well as build an undead army strong enough to get revenge on Dragon's Howl.

Anoran interrogates Agatha, bent on killing her as a punishment and a mercy for her dealings with the undead and to release her from her pain, but with the help of Skylert, Bell, and Kayli, Agatha was convinced to be spared and was even asked to come along with them with the intent of the Abyssal Pirates adopting her into their fold and giving her a place to belong. Bell was given an opportunity to use a spell to look into her memories, confirming her story, as well as seeing some unique and fantastic things and places not charted on their map, which she kept a record of on her own map, which Chase discovered.

Anoran began his ritual to finally send the poor souls of Whitebridge to the afterlife proper, but in the middle of his ritual, a dark and familiar event happened in the sky and all of the souls Anoran tried to save began to be stolen, sucked up into a hole in the sky, sending them towards the north. A gate had been opened. With a Mythril mine completely gutted and a town now barren and empty, there was nothing left keeping it standing. Anoran and Bell saw to it that it would all be burned away and the party, along with an emotionally overwhelmed Agatha make their way out of the now-burning town.

As the party retreats back to Resistance HQ, they find that the Pirates had managed to find it and dock. The party split up to consult with them and reassess the situation. Bell, while relaxing in the Resistance tavern, learns from a Tabaxi-like Fox named Kaleb who had seen something eerily similar to something Agatha had seen during Bell's memory dive: A towering ice obelisk emitting a cold unlike anything else, but it was being guarded by several Kenku.

Now, the party finds themselves with an open gate, a menacing hag, and a magical ice object, all spread out across Wintervale Island, and that still doesn't account for what Mi'itrik and Dart might find on their travels as well. Things are beginning to stir up heavily on Wintervale Island. What will the party do now that more and more dark secrets begin to arise?
