I always liked this because it threw Mark of the Wolves into the mix, but nothing tops 1998 for me. That's why it'll be a minute before I get to the other titles in the series...it's really a "seen one, seen em all" situation. At least visually. So let's forget about the game and focus on this...

It is the size of the game that just puts a lot into perspective, and it's a weird perspective. So this was proudly declared to be 716 megs and I believe it is the largest Neo Geo game ever made, which likely means this was the largest cartridge based game ever. In 2003. Even Nintendo finally gave up on carts and moved to disks 2 years prior, so no one was using them anymore. Also, again...this was 2003. No one was saying "32 megs of power!" on their boxes or ads anymore. All that stopped the moment the Sega CD arrived. Because 716megs is 90mb. The N64 officially died in 2001 and it's largest game was likely 64mb. It's so weird to consider that you could fit almost 8 of the largest carts ever made on one CD. It's also weird to consider that RE2 on N64 cost $80 on release vs whatever $200+ price KOF2003 was on release. It's all so weird, but the Neo Geo was always unique. It also kind of had to be since the platform was really arcade based.
