In this video, I discuss The Last of Us Part 3 and recent news surrounding its development. In an interview and according to vice president at Naughty Dog, Neil Druckmann, The Last of Us Part 3 is likely NOT Happening if Naughty Dog fails to make a reason for it. Although The Last of Us franchise is a big IP for PlayStation, the idea of The Last of Us Part 2 being the final story fans can see for The Last of Us is crazy! Many in the community have long speculated on Naughty Dog’s continuation of the franchise, with The Last of Us Part 3, but not after Neil Druckmann spoke to in an interview detailing how the studio is fine with closing off the chapters for both the Uncharted series and The Last of Us - with The Last of Us Part 3 NOT Happening , and will only happen if Naughty Dog has room for story left to tell.
I’ve made many videos talking about The Last of Us, but very few of my videos have mentioned The Last of Us Part 3, mostly because I’ve been saying for months that in spite of everyone’s expectations; I seriously doubt that Naughty Dog will make The Last of Us Part 3. I’ve said this, because I don’t know how much narrative the studio could explore that would justify the continuation. This is something that creative director Neil Druckmann spoke about himself; how The Last of Us Part 3 may NOT be Happening. Neil spoke on how PlayStation trusts Naughty Dog and vice versa. By default, The Last of Us is a popular franchise and they’d most certainly want to make more due to financial potential. But on a creative standpoint, PlayStation equally supports their studios and thus, if Naughty Dog has no reason for the additional exploration with The Last of Us Part 3, then The Last of Us Part 3 will NOT be Happening and it’s as simple as that.
