In this video, I discuss the recent unveiling of Naughty Dog's, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered game which is expected to release on the PlayStation 5 hardware in early 2024. Amid this announcement of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, I wanted to discuss the new No Return Roguelike survival game mode. As spoken about in the video, apparently The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered will have a survival mode that will feature 12 levels. As spotted by a fan of The Last of Us on Twitter, the user observed that a former associate at Naughty Dog's Linkedin page seemed to have pointed towards The Last of Us Part 2's survival mode having 12 levels. This comes to a surprise to me, considering that The Last of Us survival mode was never something I thought the studio would explore, specially not in the form of a remaster edition for a 3 year old game. Nonetheless, the former Naughty Dog staffer seemed to have confirmed this, as his Linkedin profile does not detail the 12 levels which was previously captured by the aforementioned Twitter user.
As we approach the end of a quarter and really the end of 2023, it excites me that Naughty Dog is once again bringing in their community with updates and details surrounding their The Last of Us Part 2 remastered title. It's a bit unfortunate that due to leaks, the studio had to post their announcement. I speculate this was an unveiling that may have been apart of the upcoming Game Awards show; however the leak forced Naughty Dog to announce the trailer sooner than expected. Curious to know everyone's thoughts regarding The Last of Us Part 2's Survival Mode and the assumed fact fact that it has 12 levels or 12 maps to explore and fight to survive on. Could Naughty Dog be testing the waters with this survival mode prior to the official unveiling of their compelling and highly anticipated The Last of Us Factions Online mode? Or could this Last of Us survival mode merely be a distraction for what's truly to come for The Last of Us series? Speculate in the comments below!
