To understand Subhas Chandra Bose, one needs to understand the real history of India says Raghav Sharan Sharma. To say that the freedom struggle started with 1857 or Gadar movement is not correct. The fact is that the peasant revolution against the British never subsided. There were thousands of battles fought at the root level, by tribals, peasants, sadhus, and a million others, which have been completely erased from written history.
Without mincing his words, he goes on to remove the halo from around all the big names of Indian history- Gandhi, Nehru, Patel …. He spares none and bursts the hundreds of myths that the mainstream Indian history has fed us over 70 years. What was really non-cooperative about the non-cooperation movement? The reality of Champaran, the underhand deals within the then leaders, the turn-around moves of Nehru and joining hands with the Communists, the events at Ramgarh, and a dozen other questions.

राघव शरण शर्मा जी की पुस्तक, सुबाष चंद्र बोस: इंडियन इकोनॉमिक एंड पॉलिटिकल प्लानिंग के पायनियर, 2017 में प्रकाशित हुई। इनके अनुसार बोस न केवल एक कार्यकर्ता थे, बल्कि एक विचारक, सूत्रकार और स्पष्ट राजनीतिक, आर्थिक और सामाजिक दृष्टिकोण वाले कार्यकर्ता भी थे जिनका शायद ही कभी अध्ययन किया गया हो। ।
सुभाष चंद्र बोस को समझने के लिए, भारत के वास्तविक इतिहास को समझने की ज़रूरत है। यह कहना कि स्वतंत्रता संग्राम 1857 से या ग़दर आंदोलन से शुरू हुआ था सही नहीं है। क्योंकि वास्तविकता यह है कि अंग्रेज़ों के खिलाफ किसान क्रांति कभी ख़तम ही नहीं हुई। आदिवासियों, किसानों के स्तर पर हज़ारों महाभारत हुए, जिन्हें हमारे इतिहास में से पूरी तरह मिटा दिया गया है।
राघव जी भारतीय इतिहास के सभी दिग्गज नेता, गांधी, नेहरू, पटेल आदि सभी को प्रश्नों के घेरे में ला खड़ा करते हैं। फिर वह चाहे असहयोग आंदोलन की बात हो, या चंपारन की हकीकत, गाँधी की 'अहिंसा' हो या उन नेताओं की आपसी गुप्त सौदेबाज़ी, नेहरू का सुभाष चंद्र बोस को दरकिनार कर कम्युनिस्टों के साथ हाथ मिला लेना, रामगढ़ में हुई घटनाएं व् गाँधी की राजनीती आदि दर्जनों और सवाल उठाते हैं शर्मा जी व् दर्जनों असत्यों का पर्दाफाश करते हैं।
