In this (short) video essay I explore the community's relationship with Paradox whenever they update a game without backwards compatibility for our saves. First I look at the reaction of new players, shocked by the loss of their saves. Then I take you on a tour of the veterans response, followed by the Paradox response. This generally happens for Stellaris, Europa Universalis IV and Hearts of Iron IV; amongst many other games.
