The Perfect Ground Pork Smash Burger with Fresh Apple Slaw! | National Pork Board Recipe #shorts
#ad Today I took one of my all time favorite comfort foods and swapped the protein for ground pork to create this incredible Peppery Pork Smash Burger with Apple Slaw in partnership with the @nationalporkboard !Spicy, Savory, and a touch of sweetness all packed into a classic with a new twist!
Ingredients
- 1.5 lb 80/20 Ground Pork
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp Bacon Grease or oil
- 3 apples, cut to match sticks
- 2 stalks of celery cut to match sticks
- 1/4 cup mayo
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1tsp poppy seeds
- 1 tsp hot sauce of preference
- 1 cup parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup chives, chopped
- Gouda or Muenster cheese
- Brioche Buns
Instructions:
1. Start by seasoning the ground pork with salt and pepper, and mix well. Then form the pork into 3-4 oz balls and set aside.
2. Grab 3 apples of your choice and using either a mandolin or knife, cut the apples into match sticks and do the same with the celery and place them in a large bowl. Then combine the Mayo, apple cider vinegar, poppy seeds, and hot sauce in a small bowl and whisk until smooth to create the base for our slaw. Pour this over the apples and celery and mix well by hand.
3. Then we can add the chopped parsley and chives to the slaw and mix one more time.
4. Next, preheat your skillet or griddle to high heat and grease with Bacon fat. Once it is up to temp, place down the pork ball and press firmly into the pan or cooktop.
5. After about 2-3 minutes, flip the pork patty to reveal a perfect crust, and top with either Gouda or Muenster cheese. Give that a minute to melt and by now the ground pork has reached the safe internal eating temp of 160F or higher.
6. To build the burger, grab a toasted bun, place down 2 of the patties, and top off with a generous amount of our slaw.
Give this a shot and enjoy an amazing flavor packed pork smash burger that really shows how amazing pork can be as a protein swap when it comes to meals like this! For more ideas similar to this one visit Pork.org for plenty of pork inspired recipes!!
