Have you ever tried a French Onion Steak?! | Smoked Tomahawk Steak Recipe #shorts
Today i made the best Tomahawk i have ever had! It was flavor packed and infused with a bunch of French Onion flavor and cooked to perfection with the help of my @typhur_culinary Sync thermometer! If you want that Compound butter recipe let me know in the comments!!
Ingredients:
- 3 lb tomahawk
- 1.5-2 cups of beef tallow (you can find Wagyu tallow pretty cheap!)
- 3-4 tbsp of French onion seasoning, plus more for topping
- Salt & Pepper
- Finishing salt, crispy shallots, and parsley for garnish
Instructions:
1. Start by combining the beef tallow and french onion seasoning in a small bowl and mixing until smooth.
2. season the underside of the steak with the french onion seasoning, then place on a wire rack ontop of a baking sheet. Cover the entire top and sides with the seasoned beef tallow. Then top with additional seasoning and salt and pepper!
3. Place in the smoker at 225 F and set the Typhur sync thermometer to 130-134F, this will give us perfectly rendered fat and a beatiful cook! And make sure to baste the steak with the melted tallow every 15 minutes or so!
4. Time varies alot here, mine took about 90 minutes, then it was ready to take out, remove the probe, and sear! You can sear over the grill, fire, or use a torch like i did!
5. Let the steak rest 10 minutes or so, during that time i love melting compound butter over the top to layer in even more flavor!
6. Slice, add option toppings, and enjoy!
