So Final Fantasy VII Remake is getting a graphical update and a new chapter of standalone content in the form of Intergrade. This new bit of DLC will focus on Yuffie's adventure, telling a story that's completely new to the FFVII world, but which follows in the footsteps of previous games and movies which have expanded Midgar's lore.

This is, of course, great news - but it does set a dangerous precedent. After all, FFVII Remake was intended as a complete retelling of the FFVII story, but the addition of extra batches of DLC complicates things further.

It also makes it clear that Square-Enix intends to string this remake out for as long as humanly possible.

Plus, the announcement of Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis, yet ANOTHER retelling of the game's story, makes it clear that Square Enix just can't quit trying to endlessly rework and rephrase this famous game's story. Almost as if the company's plan is to simply stick the name FFVII on anything they can get their hands on...
