Cold Iron Studios has revealed Aliens: Fireteam, a brand new three-player third-person shooter that does its best to emulate the experience of being in James Cameron's Aliens movie.
As eager as some players might be (for some reason) to jump back into the world of Aliens, others are having a hard time looking past the previous game in this series, Aliens: Colonial Marines (Alien: Isolation doesn't count, because that's an Alien game, not an Aliens game.
No, I'm not being pedantic!) It's clear from the design of Fireteam that every care is being taken to make sure this doesn't turn into another Colonial Marines; indeed the rather safe design of the new title is likely a reponse to the oft-memed 2013 Aliens game that everybody still loves to hate.
Pull this off, and Cold Iron could well save the Aliens franchise. Mess up, and players might not want to take another chance on this particular universe.
