The new Square-Enix Presents presentation has given us our first look at Life is Strange: True Colors, a brand new instalment in the popular supernatural adventure game series. While the quality of these games has never been in doubt, the most recent two titles, Before the Storm and Life is Strange 2, have lacked a unique gameplay mechanic that's made them stand out from traditional adventure games.
Yes, the incredible storytelling and characterisation goes a long way, but while the first Life is Strange game had an incredible time-travel mechanic that really made it something special, the next two games have been less experimental in their gameplay.
Life is Strange: True Colors on the other hand, gives the player character, Alex Chen, the ability to sense people's emotions, thus helping her to dig around in the small town in which her brother Gabe seemingly died in an accident.
This is a fabulous idea, as, just when the series was in danger of becoming formulaic, developer Deck Nine has thrown a new element into the mix to keep things fresh and original.
Life is Strange: True Colors looks very promising indeed.
