The Punisher will return to the MCU
0Jon Bernthal’s Punisher will return to the MCU, according to BANG Sources.
It’s been speculated on for a while, but we now have confirmation from some reputable insiders that the Punisher will indeed return to our screens.
This is relieving news to fans of Bernthal’s take on the Punisher, who was violent & brutal and true to the character.
Bernthal recently said he had no interest in returning to a watered down version of the character, which had many fans worried since the MCU hasn’t embraced mature themes yet.
In an interview, Bernthal said: “It needs to be a level of darkness. I think if there’s any let up on that character, you do a disservice to the character,”
He continued: “it’s not about whether you do the character; it’s about whether you can do it right, and I’m only interested in doing it right.”
So it seems if Bernthal’s return is confirmed, that we may be getting a more violent side of the MCU.
This isn’t a huge surprise, with confirmation that a Marvel Studios produced Deadpool would be rated R, and the recent Moon Knight trailer appearing to be on the darker side of Marvel productions.
