Will Zendaya’s MJ return in the MCU, and will she ever remember Peter Parker?
This question has been at the front of many fan’s minds since the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, with it appearing to be closing the chapter on Zendaya’s MJ and Jacob Batlon’s Ned.
At the end of No Way Home, we saw Peter Parker agree to have everyone he knows forget about him, to protect both their own safety as well as the Multiverse.
We see Peter Parker go to see Ned & MJ, who both do not remember who he is.
Recently however, the script for No Way Home has been made available, and there is some very interesting developments regarding the memory wipe of MJ & Ned.
When Peter finishes MJ’s line for her about expecting disappointment and never being disappointed, the screen directions read: “A flicker of déjà vu on her face, then, recovering:”.
This implies that whilst the spell was obviously effective, there may be some wiggle room for MJ to remember.
During their final interaction, as Peter leaves, the screen directions read: “HOLD ON MJ, watching Peter go with a lingering sense of… recognition?”.
