The Kerbal Space Center does have a retirement program, and sometimes it even involves surviving to retire on Kerbin!

Usually though, the retirement program is just another, kinder, gentler name for "premature fiery death KA-BOOM." ;)

The good news is that the Kerbalnaut Retirement Trust Fund is in great shape. ;) Lots of brave kerbalnauts putting money into it, and nobody has survived long enough to retire. ;)

In the next series of episodes, I will be mounting a rescue mission to pick up the 5 astronauts scattered about near Duna. There are the 3 astronauts on the first Duna mission, who have been sitting on the planet for almost 7 years in game time, there is one astronaut on Ike who has been there even longer, and we have Shellie Kerman of the Duna Polar Expedition and the Duna Canyon Expedition, she's been lucky in that she only had to spend a year or so on Duna. ;)

However none of them will be lucky if we can't get them safely back to Kerbin! We are sending two massive lag-inducing rockets to Duna, the Planet Explorer 8 "Lander" and the Planet Explorer 8 "Bus", the purely interplanetary rocket that will send them all back once they all get to orbit. This is a series of episodes sure to involve explosions, mishaps, miscalculations and various nibbles from the babies of the Space Kraken. ;)
