The Sad Truth Behind D-16 & B-127's names in Transformers One. Originally known as the main faces of the Transformers franchise. Megatron & Bumblebee have continued to evolve in ways we could never imagine. Especially when it comes to the movies. We saw the introduction of Bumblebee's voice radio. Which was done after Megatron destroyed his voice box on Cybertron. Megatron was even originally gonna appear in Bumblebee's movie. Its like the 2 have this weird connection. And we see these conncections continue in Transformers. Except this time with their names. In the film ever Cybertronian has a name. Like Orion Pax and Elita. But for whatever reason Megatron and Bumblebee are only called by the alphabet and numbers D-16 & B-127. While it isn't explained why, I strongly believe the names harken back to the aligned continuity. Where characters such as D-16 took their names from the sectors they were forced to work in. And the same was likely the case for B-127.
