141What's the difference between an author and an authentic person?
It turns out, the two words have the same origin. They both come from a word meaning "to originate" or "invent". So it's not surprising that being authentic is a lot like being an author—you're making something with your life, not just consuming other people's work.
This means that when you're being authentic, you're also authoring your life.
Every story has a goal and obstacles, right? And every hero has to face those obstacles in order to reach their goal. Your Hero's Journey is no different. The only difference is that YOU are the hero of YOUR story. That means YOU get to decide what kind of obstacles YOU want to face and how YOU want to overcome them.
Think of it like this: we are all authors of our own story. Our writing starts with a blank page and ends with a finished book.
