OpenBSD is a free and open source Unix-derived operating system well known for it's focus on security ant it's claim of having "only two remote holes in the default install, in a heck of a long time!". It's also well known as the progenitor of other very important FOSS projects like the OpenSSH, OpenBGPD and LibreSSL suites and the PF firewall. The project is led by Theo de Raadt and it's most recent version is OpenBSD 7.6 released in October 8, 2024.

The OpenBSD community has a tradition of releasing sets of songs and artwork to celebrate the releases of the OS. From versions 3.0 to 6.0 these songs were released in CD format with the physical release of the corresponding OS version, as well as in three compilation CDs. As of version 6.1 of the OS all songs as well as the OS itself are released exclusively through the project's homepage.

This video comprises the contents of the first compilation CD "The Songs 3.0 - 4.0".

The music in this compilation was arranged and performed by many artists, including Ty Semaka, Gordon Chipp Robb, John McNiel & Wynn Gogol of the band The Plaid Tongued Devils, along with Jonathan Lewis, Tom Bagley, Jim Buick, Charlie Bullough, Adele Legere, Anita Miotti, Reed Shimozawa, Chantal Vitalis, Jonny Nordstrom, Janet Lewis, Bob Beck, Tony Binns, Peter Rumpel, Calvin Beck, Theo de Raadt, Alan Kolodziejzyk, Richard Sixto, Peter Valchev, Sean Desmond, Ian Knox, Onalea Gilbertson, Dan Meichel, Craig Soby & Kelly Mihalicz.

Most of the artwork in this video was drawn by Ty Semaka.

All the OpenBSD music is available at the project's homepage here: https://www.openbsd.org/lyrics.html
