SuperTux is an excellent free and open source 2D platformer inspired by Super Mario World starring Tux as the name indicates. The project was started by Bill Kendrick and Ingo Ruhnke in 2004 and is currently still in active development by the SuperTux Team. SuperTux includes an in-development story mode with two worlds already, several community made maps and a level editor.

The game includes an original soundtrack composed by Marek "Wansti" Moeckel.
