The Steam controller greatly reduces motion sickness in VR !
So it turns out the touch pad input of the steam controller greatly reduces motion sickness with VR games that would otherwise use an analog stick for looking around.
This is likely because the touch-pad allows for quick acceleration and snapping of the view where as a joystick moves the camera in more of a gradual and smoothed movement.
It would seem that Playing older FPS games that have VR compatibility such as Half Life 2 and Quake is now possible without feeling as if you have stuck you head in microwave.
We will be doing some more tests but I have to say this is indeed very promising for those of you that want to play older games away from the trusty keyboard and mouse !
Interestingly the VIVE controllers also have the same touch pads as the Steam controller which again will likely make rotating in VR games far more comfortable for those of us without a large play space to jump around in :)
