Francois-Thomas Germain, the Templar Grandmaster, is hiding in the heavily guarded Temple. Arno and Elise split up and infiltrate. Arno finds Germain at the top of the tower and tries to assassinate him, but Germain uses the power of Sword of Eden on him. Arno attacks him once again, but Germain disappears.

Arno and Elise find Germain in the catacombs. With the powerful Sword Of Eden in Germain's hand, both work together to take him down sneakily. In fight, Arno gets stuck in rubble and Germain once again tries to escape. Having another last chance, Elise tries to take on Germain alone. But the uncontrolled power of the Sword of Eden instantly kills her and severely injures Germain. Arno in agony slowly pokes his hidden blade into Germain's throat. In his memories, he talks to Arno and tells him his struggle as the Sage. Arno then walks out with Elise's dead body.

Few years later, now a Master Assassin, Arno returns to the Temple with Napoleon and some men and bury the skull and bones of decayed Germain in the catacomb walls....making it even more harder for Abstergo to even bother finding it....two centuries before they even start.
