Gameplay of The Thing, an horror game released in 2002 based on John Carpenter's The Thing (1982), considered one of the best evil space creature movies, and one of the greatest classics of that time along with Alien. The game, developed by Computer Artworks, is a sequel to the story of the movie, as a group of special forces goes to investigate what has happened in the experimental station in Antarctica. It's a recommendable game that captures the essence of the movie in atmosphere and with a game mechanic in which we do not know if any of our companions can be a replica created by the alien.

Unfortunately the game is not sold today on any digital platform, you have to search in abandonware pages (although personally I have the original game in my collection). Searching in Google, in one of the first results there is a website where you can download the game, and the patch, which is essential to apply some improvements. The installation of the game works without problems in W10, which is not usual in old games.

To make this gameplay I have applied some recommended improvements. These are the following:

-Patch 1.1-1.2 Euro (for the European version not German): this patch, besides fixing bugs, adds option for mouse look.
-The Thing - Sui's wrapper (previous patch required): allows to play in widescreen among other graphical improvements such as anisotropic filter, AA, etc: https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/1039-the-thing-suis-wrapper/
-Bump mapping (Sui's wrapper required): this adds a bump mapping effect to the textures, which greatly improves their quality, as the original ones are slightly low resolution: https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/1162-the-thing-bump-maps/

I have also tested the game in its PS2 version in the PCSX2 emulator and it works perfectly (although at 30 fps), at least at the beginning.
