The Tower of Druaga/ドルアーガの塔 (Game Boy) playthrough
5The Tower of Druaga is back again on the emulator. This time, I am doing the handheld adaption of the 1984 arcade game, from the original Game Boy. Like the previous video featuring the game from the Famicom (NES), this too is also shamefully only released in Japan, in 1990. Compared to the arcade/FC versions, the GB release is a much less frustrating by having Gil having a fully functional HP meter to take multiple hits (at cost of just one life), enemy spells are slower, and is unique of every 10 floors there is a boss battle. As with all versions of The Tower of Druaga, I highly recommend using a walkthrough guide.
1-10th floor: 0:00-9:46
11-20th floor: 9:47-18:50
21-30th floor: 18:51-26:28
31-40th floor: 26:29-33:35
41-50th floor: 33:36-40:48
51-58th floor: 40:49-46:59
Druaga *Final Boss* (59th floor): 47:00-50:39
60th floor/ending: 50:40-52:19
Normally, the Game Boy is seen as black and white (or black/hazy green in the real thing), but for this playthrough I used the Game Boy Color mode's red color palette to remind myself of the time I thought Pokemon Red was GBC before I learned it wasn't at all, which that game used this color by default in a GBC or GBA hardware.
Oh, the box art of this release shows Gil fighting an Ouyx dragon 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 the Tower, somehow. Lol
