The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cart

Well, I think this is a new record for me. This may very well be the shortest stream I've ever done... well, at least since moving over to this format. That's right: this is playthrough #81, it's Felix the Cat for the NES and it's my latest one-stream wonder.
Hell, considering what I've still got on the docket, it might be my -only- one-stream wonder for the year. Granted, last year had an unusually high amount of them. I'm not sure how I feel about them in general though. On the one hand, it feels pretty good to beat a game for the first time in the span of a single night... even if it has the unfortunate side effect of Dari feeling like he's getting flexed on. On the other hand, it feels kind of like I'm cheating whoever nominated each game out of a more robust experience.
Oh well, it's not like I'm going to feign incompetence to drag something like this out.
As for my impressions of Felix itself, I don't really have any strong feelings regarding it one way or the other. The timed transformations gimmick is pretty interesting, but the game's momentum is incredibly slippery at times, which can lead to some cheap deaths -- as you can see in my aborted first attempt at a run. That isn't to say that it's a bad game per se, but neither is it a hidden gem. It didn't feel like a waste of time, but the game seems to entirely hinge on a gimmick. But as far as licensed games go (especially on the NES), you could do a whole lot worse.
I didn't end up ranking this game at the end of the stream, just due to how abruptly it ended... but I'd end up giving this a 7.5/10. If the controls were less slippery or the lingering threat of limited continues didn't force me to horde extra lives like a crazy cat lady, it would've easily have been an 8.
