Like I said in the journal entry for the previous episode (but not the video itself), I wasn't exactly happy with how the standard ending for River City Girls turned out. While Sabuko was a pretty fun boss fight, the fact that they kept on setting up Hasabe and Mami as being rivals or something, but unless you obtain a couple of items, you never actually end up fighting them. So, after the stream was done, I decided to look up if there was a secret ending or something. Turns out there was... and I had already done most of what I needed to in order to unlock it. So I figured, what the Hell? Let's just get that secret boss fight. I was originally expecting River City Girls to take three streams anyway.

Tracking down those last few statues was kind of annoying. But mainly because some of them were kind of hidden off-camera or in some other weird places. I'm not gonna lie, I did end up using a guide to find the remaining ones for that reason. Though, honestly, finding 18 out of 25 on my own still seems like a pretty impressive feat. Especially considering I didn't know their importance in the first place. I just sort of assumed that they'd be tied to an achievement. And to be fair, there was also an achievement. But honestly, as far as unlocking secret final bosses go, the criteria here was pretty fair. That's part of what made me decide to go ahead with it in the first place.

The boss fight was pretty fun. I've seen a lot of people claim that Sabuko was a harder fight... and that was honestly probably the case, though I beat both final bosses on my first try. But, you know, since Hasabe and Mami actually had a presence throughout the game, it felt way more satisfying to beat them down. Man, they even pulled the Richter Belmont trick on me at the end. And considering how long I actually ended up waiting to play this game, I apparently dodged the whole controversy surrounding the ending. Originally, there was no alternate ending for facing off with the secret final boss... just the same ending as the Sabuko fight. Apparently, this caused some controversy. To make matters stranger, old articles regarding the backlash was how I found out about the secret boss fight in the first place.

Honestly, I prefer the replacement ending... though I guess that's not really fair, considering it's a choice between new material or the same material as before. And since the playthrough wrapped up so early, I decided to just mess around a little more. You know, play around with the other characters, grab a couple more new partners, that sort of thing. I guess I just didn't want the stream to be shorter than the Felix stream.

If I didn't make it clear, I'd still rank the game as a 9/10. I'm pretty sure I said that the last time and my mind didn't change. It's definitely the best bonus game I've played thus far this year... and I don't see any game dethroning it... well, aside from maybe the one I'll be starting next time...
