There Is No Light - Pixelart Soulslike! | Game Demo Showcase #24
1Welcome back to another demo showcase, today I'm taking a look at There Is No Light! A game being developed by Zelart and published by HypeTrain Digital, this is an atmospheric pixelart souls-like game where you fight your way through various enemies, explore a seemingly grizzly world, unlock weapons, and fight bosses of course!
Like with many other pixelart titles, the art is a big plus for me here. I am always blown away by how amazing it can look, and this game is no different: gorgeously detailed environments from what I've seen.
Gameplay felt very nice, the different weapons all have different move sets (though with restricted combos, perhaps unlockable with skills?), and while combat isn't too hard to pick up, I can see it'll be hard to master, as I died quite a few times.
Can't comment on the story as this is merely a demo, but it seems we play as a servant of death, or something? I'm not sure..
Music sounds really cool too, from what I heard, it seemed to go very well with the environment!
However a bunch of quality of life features would be MOST welcome, in my opinion, such as being able to see my cursor on the menus, being able to change keybindings, being able to customize crosshairs when playing with mouse and keyboard, stuff like that. And fix up the text font, too.
So overall, I enjoyed this. I haven't played through the entire demo, but I enjoyed what I played. Combat felt good, art was gorgeous, no comment on the story, music was nice. I gave a few suggestion changes which I think could just make the game a bit nicer.
