thinkingParticles Drop2 Flame and Obstacles
This is the thinkingParticles Drop2 Flame and Obstacles feature video. It explains the new additions made to Subscription Drop2. A fully procedural based fire and smoke simulation effect.

- introducing a brand new fluidSolver!
- first vorton based compressible fluid system for 3ds Max.
- real time and low memory footprint.
- dedicated smokeShader and atmosphericEffect.
- showing the nodes positionBorn and how to feed in the values.
- 1:37 showing all the brand new nodes of the smokeSolver.
- smokeGroup -- smokeRender - smokeTRanges - smokeBoundary - smokeSolver.
- blazing fast effects - real time, particle based no pre-simulation needed.
- viewport shows effects instantly with parameter values like density, pressure, heat, velocity - pure physics!
- creating a scene with positionBorn 'speed' set to '0',
- nevertheless u see the particles still rises because of the new feature parameter, 'temperature' that controls the motion of the heat and flame as well as interaction with obstacles.
- check out the amazing adjustment operators available.
- one important parameter: vorticity in acceleration: raise it and a much more active response of whirls and twirls,
- example of interaction with an 'obstacles' such as a torus shape:
- interaction of steam from teapot, for example, is not only avoidance response with the obstacle, but accurate pressure interaction.
- volume and area around object is also factored in therefore simulation shows 'pressure build up' in region.
- artists defines how far from the surface of the colliding object for reaction to take place.
- move the obstruction around and get different vfx result.
- how to render this kind of effects - SD2 comes with own shader and stays in the particle system itself ! - fully procedural render node! Accessible and controllable like any other renderer.
- showing cebas finalRender since it is the fastest, most powerful GI renderer and ray tracer available out there with 3ds Max.
- finalRender 3.5 SE (version 4 coming soon) highly optimized for atmospheric effects!
- full rendering control within thinkingParticles 6.2
- another new thing: the flame creates light: renders as 'real' area light, sourced-based on a gas simulation.
- So the 'gas' or the ;flame' is emitting the light right from the rendering viewport!
- change it to a dark smoke and u see no light.
- a white flame emits more light.
- controllers: intensity of effects brightens up whole scene; Far attenuation feature gives a far more dramatic effect.
- area shadows : adjust number of rays for soft shadow effects,
