The Gene Machine is a point and click adventure game for the MS-DOS. It was released in 1996, being developed by Divide By Zero, Ltd, and publised by Vic Tokai, Inc. Divide By Zero has been known for also releasing The Orion Conspiracy, Innocent Until Caught, and Guilty. This was received well, with Just Adventure comparing it, and saying it's as good, as the works of LucasArts and Sierra.

This game is FULL of references. It includes the work of H. G. Wells, mostly The Island of Doctor Moreau, but it also includes a reference to Around the World in 80 Days. Its subversive yet incredibly British humour has also been compared to Blackadder.

Is this a hidden gem? Should it be compared to the works of LucasArts and Sierra? Find out here.

The music is either from the game soundtrack, or from Epidemic Sound. The following songs from the latter are used:

One Two Feet - Automatic Lovin'
Martin Landstorm - A Real Class Act
Mac Toboel - Gold Rush
Luella Gren - The Haunted Concert Hall
Experia - Trapped in the Sewers
Jo Wandrini - To War!

Commercials, interviews, etc are taken from archive.
