This Was Unexpected!! How to Repair a Solar Calculator with a Dead Battery. What could go wrong?
4In this video, we show you how to repair a solar calculator with a dead battery. If your calculator won't stay on without a source of light, it's likely that the battery needs to be replaced or the battery post needs to be re-soldered.
We start by opening the calculator and using tweezers with a non-conductive tip to remove the battery. After inspecting the battery, we identify it as an LR1130 battery and locate a replacement.
However, upon closer inspection, we realize that the battery post needs to be resoldered. We set up our soldering station and get to work, though we were not able to film the process. After a few attempts, we successfully resolder the battery post and test the calculator.
With the battery post fixed, the calculator stays on even when the solar cell is blocked. We put the calculator back together and show the repaired device.

Decided to video changing the battery on a solar calculator.
in the process I broke the battery connector.
Tried to video the soldering , but was not setup.
may release the attempt as a blooper video.
was able to get it connected and working
Note, after I put the cover back on off camera, it was still intermittent.
I may do a follow up video, at some point.
but my next soldering video will most likely be putting header pins on a raspberry pi pico
