Gory vs. fighting game with weapons (one of the earliest such games). You have 5 buttons for controls (along with the 8-way joystick): 2 for the arms, and 2 for the feet. One of the arms controls a punch, and the other wields your weapon. Your legs perform kick or slide attacks. Alternating the punch attacks and performing mid-air kicks are good strategies for getting at least somewhat far in the game. A fight can actually be ended early-- get your opponent good and dizzy and you can hit all punch and kick buttons together to lop their head off! If you're really close you may lop off their arms and head-- yuck! This game's graphics are rather disappointing for 1992, but the real appeal of the game are the gore factor and the weapon fighting, as well as the rather dark humor (the quotes after a fight especially). The 8 fighters are from either the past or future and the weapons include an axe, sword, laser sword, and chainsaw, among others. The final boss is DEATH. The only way to get on the high score list is to beat the game. To beat Death you MUST behead him after dizzying him, or the fight will continue and he'll regain energy. Each character has a handful of special moves, but using both arm buttons (one to keep the enemy driven back and one to cause substantial damage with the weapon) and jump kicking when possible is a good recipe for passing the first few enemies or so.
